View our Garbage and Yard Waste Service Information brochure.

Services are provided to residential properties only.  Businesses, apartment complexes, and multi-family complexes do not receive this service.  This service is intended for occasional, single-item disposal and not for whole home or property cleanouts.

  1. Normal Household Waste
The Town provides its’ residents one 90 gallon trash can, which is emptied once a week. Trash is collected by GFL. All trash, including boxes, packaging material, food scraps and other household trash must be inside the trash can.
  2. Bulky Household /Furniture Items
Bulky items such as furniture, stoves, etc., may be collected if placed to and behind the front curb line or ditch line. Erwin Public Works picks up this type of household trash on Wednesdays.
  3. Leaves and Grass Clippings
A large vacuum truck picks up leaves and grass clippings on a continuous route around the town during the fall of the year. It will make one complete route around the town each week. This truck runs unless there is a breakdown. Please bear with us during heavy leaf season. Do not mix anything with the leaves or grass clippings and do not put them in bags.
  4. Limbs and Shrub Trimmings
A boom truck runs a complete route through the city once each week. Limbs must not be larger than six inches in diameter or six feet in length. Nothing should be mixed in with limbs, including leaves or grass clippings.
  5. Reduction in Garbage Bill for Inactive Residents
